Colonoscopy
A colonoscopy is a procedure during which a long flexible tube is used to look inside the colon. The main instrument that is used is the colonoscope. It is a long, thin, flexible tube with a tiny video camera and a light on the end. By adjusting various controls on the colonoscope, the gastroenterologist can carefully guide it to display high-quality images of the inside of the colon on a TV monitor.

Many patients find the pre-colonoscopy preparation to be unsavory. However, Dr. Mallat allows you to choose your pre-colonoscopy prep. There are several preparations including pills, solutions, and over-the-counter medications.
